Vow Renewal at Grand Sand Dunes National Park

The Couple:

If there was any couple to run away to The Great Sand Dunes with, it was Gavyn and Savannah! Their vow renewal was insane! I had always wanted to do an adventure elopement at The Great Sand Dunes National Park and when I reached out to ask if they would want to model, the stars aligned and they chose to renew their vows.

The Planning:

Before the vow renewal took place, Savannah and I talked back and forth for weeks planning outfits, finding inspiration from art and deciding what we wanted the photos to feel like. We both loved the idea of replicating some famous greek statues. We met up at a campground near the park for lunch and to get to know each other. We re-visited the vision for the shoot and watched a couple iconic romance scenes! The photo above was inspired by a dance scene between Damon and Elena on The Vampire Diaries. I instructed them to always act like they were the stars of a movie - and not stress about looking perfect. Instead I instructed them to over romanticize every touch, every interaction, every kiss and just focus on being with each other. When they read their vows it was absolute magic - not a dry eye around.

The Location:

This adventure session was perfect! Golden hour at the Great Sand Dunes National Park transports you to another world! The breeze even gave her dress wings. Some challenges with other public outdoor locations is that they get very crowded. However, I have come to this particular park countless times and so I was able to find a pocket of privacy. It allowed for them to relax without people watching them and for the entire world to revolve around their moment. No one was able to see all of us crying when they exchanged their vows!
